Compliance REACH
REACH Regulation EC No. 1907/2006 came into force on 1st June 2007. REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals. This challenging piece of legislation regulates both existing and future new chemical substances that are placed on the EU market in quantities of more than 1 ton. EU manufacturers and importers are obliged to pre-register those substances from 1st June 2008 to 30th November 2008. Depending on the tonnage registration dossiers for those substances have to be sent to ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) until December 2010, June 2013, or June 2018.
Substances that are very hazardous to human health or the environment (e.g. PBT, vPvB, CMR) have to undergo an authorization procedure.

Chemical Substances
The chemical substances placed on the EU market by MCE are mostly imported from MCI Japan. Some substances have an ELINCS registry number and are therefore exempt from REACH as they are considered to be registered. The other substances falling under REACH will be pre-registered and registered either by MCE or by MCI via an Only Representative. We will inform our customers about the REACH status of our products on request.
Polymers
MCE's polymeric products are partly imported and partly manufactured in the EU.
The monomers or additives in import polymers will be pre-registered and registered by their suppliers via an Only Representative.
MCE is in close communication with its suppliers to obtain information about their intention to pre-register and register monomers/additives.
